Moving teens & young adults out of ISOLATION through conversation and connection

“Anxiety and its associated disorders seem to be the defining mental illnesses of young people today.”

– Jonathan Haidt, The Anxious Generation, 2024

Hi friend! I’m Brittany!

Speaker, author, and aspiring 80s rockstar!

I have the best job in the world: I travel the country helping teens, college students, and select corporate teams break out of isolation through conversation and connection.

Teen and young adult mental health struggles are at an all-time high, and the opportunity for proactive solutions is here! Whether it’s 10 or 10,000 people in the room, my mission is the same: teach audiences how to create space for their peers and open up about how they feel.

There are many ways to combat mental health struggles, but the most important and often the hardest one is… talking about it. Shame. Guilt. Judgment.

Misunderstanding. My goal isn’t to “fix” anyone—it’s to give them their power back so they can take control of their own story.

“I felt like it was just her and I in the room, because she was really hitting home with every sentence she said. The talk felt so personalized that I forgot it wasn’t just her and I.

– Klayr, TNSTRONG Teen Summit

I couldn't figure out how to put words to what I was feeling…

“I always felt that if someone were to just stand in front of me and tell me they knew how I was feeling and they made it through to the other side… I feel like that would have made all the difference.”

Going from a place of ‘suffering from’ my anxiety and now ‘living with’ it has been a hot mess express to say the least. When I was young, I was tortured by the question: why are certain things so easy for other people but so hard for me? While counseling and therapy helped me answer that question – I realized a powerful thing: If I had just known how to talk about how I felt, I could have saved myself some of the most heartbreaking and truly soulbreaking years as a teenager and young adult.

My own mental health struggles led me into the field of psychology. While working in schools as a mental health pro, I thought to myself one day, “there has got to be a better way!” I wanted to reach more teenagers at one time, be able to tell my story and get them talking and taking their power back – from struggles that make us feel so powerless.

I see them. I hear them. I am them.

“The more you talk about how you feel, the less power it has over you!”
